Information Science heading

In 2002 I am studying for a Master of Arts in Information at the University of Technology Sydney. Below are some papers I have written:

  • Birger Hjorland 101 [PDF]:
A poster presentation on this most important information scientist. I don't pretend to be an expert. These are first impressions. Note that this is a 16 page 148kb file in Portable Document Format - so you'll need to have Acrobat Reader (get Acrobat reader)
  • Hermeneutics in Library and Information Science:
An investigation into the strengths and weaknesses of hermeneutics as an epistemological framework for library and information science research
  • Conceptualising the Information Poor:
An assessment of the contribution of Elreda Chatman towards an understanding of behaviour with the context of information poverty. I am redeveloping this paper towards a public library pespective and hopefully for publication. The redeveloped paper will incorporate views from British community librarianship
  • Cognitivism versus Social Constructionism:
A Comparative Critique of Two Conceptual Frameworks Underpinning the Study of Information Behaviour
  • Knowledge Management Ideas for the Innovation Intensive Small Firm:
An argument for a social constructionist view of knowledge in the workplace, and practical steps for a small firm to take.
